The reasons for sinusitis are various and they may be due to bent inner partition of the nose (deviated nasal septum), allergy, fungal infection etc.
Headache or Facial pain is one o the main symptoms of sinusitis along with nose block, runny nose and even sometimes frank pus.
When you visit your Ear, Nose Throat specialist your nose will be examined preferably with an endoscope (a telescope attached with light) which helps him to see the inside of the nose thoroughly and pinpoint the problem area. CT scan (sometimes called a CAT scan), Smell Test (where you have to smell various odors and guess what it is ) helps to find the diagnosis.
Treatment may be with medicines (special group of antibiotics) and nasal drops or douches. However surgery sometimes becomes necessary. If surgery is performed it should be performed by those Ear Nose Throat Doctors who are well experienced with endoscopic work
